 U.S. Homestay Team Information
  1. ALL Odyssey teams/families are eligible for the program.
  2. Homestay families provide lodging, meals, and some planned activities for their international guests.
  3. Biggest cost? Time spent with your guests. Teams cover their own entertainment costs and shopping.
  4. Activities? Plan these together with your international teams. They like shopping, movies, going to school with you, seeing local sights, picnics, etc. One team said that experiencing the "ordinary American activities" was the most fun. Spending time together is the best way to enjoy the homestay experience.
  5. Homestays generally last 3-4 days after World Finals; specific, agreed upon arrangements are made between the international and U.S. coach.
  6. Transportation? Families will need to transport teams once they get to your area. Odyssey friends/families who are unable to host international team members in their homes can really help out by helping with driving/transporting people to activities.
  7. It is usually helpful if at least one host family adult can be home during the day to help coordinate daytime activities. This does not have to be the same person each day.
  8. International teams from all divisions may request homestays.
  9. Biggest reward? Making new friends from around the world.
