Odyssey of the Mind: Two Things Happening Today
Competition Starts & Float and Banner Parade
The first three days of OotM’s creative problem-solving competition will begin today. Teams of students have worked all year perfecting solutions to one of five long-term problems. These teams are the best of the best and have traveled from all over the world in order to compete for the title of World Champion. Teams are scored for creativity, risk-taking and style. There will also be a secret, on-the-spot "spontaneous problem" that will add to the overall score. The most creative solutions will be on display during the team’s competition time, which means extraordinary costumes, inventions, backdrops and performances.
After a day of competition, teams can participate in the Float and Banner Parade where they show off their creativity and pride for their state/country by creating floats and banners to be paraded in front of thousands of supporters. Everyone in attendance will have fun while learning about the many different cultures involved with Odyssey of the Mind. Awards will be given for the most creative floats and banners.
