Two Dayton Odyssey of the Mind teams win state

The Nottingham Odyssey of the Mind Team will join the Dayton High School team in competing in the OotM World competition.

This year's Nottingham Odyssey of the Mind Team of Kathleen Arnold, Carley Buck, Scott Chachere, Daniel Douglas, Kathy Johnson, Cheyenne LaFour and Ashtyn Stephenson competed for and won first place regional honors March 1 in Jasper, Texas. They competed April 5 in Houston for State Odyssey of the Mind honors, again placing first. This is the second year a Nottingham team will compete in the world competition.

This first place finish in the state competition has qualified the team of sixth graders to compete in the World Odyssey of the Mind competition at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, Md.

When asked about the team, Coach Lynda Hohn said that she was very proud of them and all their hard work and is thrilled that they have earned the chance to compete at World's.

Ms. Hohn, having coached three other state champion teams who had the World Odyssey of the Mind experience, went on to explain that the team will have an adventure that few children have the opportunity to experience meeting other young people from all parts of the United States and from around the world.
