World Finals Highlights

One day it's 80 degrees, the next day there's an inch of snow on the ground... we must be in Colorado! Although the weather changed from day to day, one thing was constant: the Odyssey of the Mind 2002 World Finals, at the University of Colorado at Boulder, was as exciting, as amazing, and as much fun as ever!

  • 687 teams competed, representing 35 U.S. states and 13 countries.
  • Uzbekistan was represented for the first time.
  • Virginia claimed the most trophies with six overall; Florida, New York, and Texas each took home five.
  • More than 100 graduates participated in the special Graduation Ceremony for those who missed their ceremony at home -- an all-time record!
  • NASA announced that they will renew their sponsorship for the next three years. They were on-hand to give a series of special video presentations.
  • Nobel Prize winners Dr. Carl Wieman and Dr. Eric Cornell, both professors at CU, gave a special lecture for Odyssey participants.
