2006 - 2007 Summer Newsletter
The 2007 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals was not
only full of much-loved Odyssey traditions, it had
many new surprises as well:
- Michigan State University survived its first World Finals successfully. Participants and supporters had the chance to experience its scenic campus.
- There was also another record-breaking year for attendance with 810 teams from 31 U.S. states and 12 other countries. Another reason World Finals was so successful was because of its dedicated 460 OotM volunteers.
- For the first time Singapore lead all associations in World Champion teams with five. New York and Poland came next with three championship teams. Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and China each had two. Tennessee, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and Texas each had one. Congratulations to every team.
- NASA gave students a chance to learn even more about earth sciences with popular daily classroom activities. Participants were taught interesting lessons from a NASA scientist and took part in fun hands-on activities.
- While the energy is always high at Opening Ceremonies, there was something special added this year. OMER celebrated his 20th birthday at this World Finals. Dr. Sam and thousands of attendees sung "Happy Birthday" to the Odyssey mascot. It was a great way to start the next three days of excitement and creative problem-solving.
