World Finals Highlights
The Odyssey of the Mind 2004 Spirit Award Recipient is Mr. Weixin Chen for establishing China Odyssey of the Mind as the largest association outside of the U.S. His dedication, per-sistence and promotion of the program began in 1988 and is still going strong.

The 2004 Creativity Award Goes to The Library of Congress for its mis-sion “to make its resources available and useful to the Congress and the American people and to sustain and preserve a universal collection of knowledge and creativity for future generations.”

17 Associations had booths at the Creativity Festival. Participants used OotM tokens at the booths. The booths that collected the most tokens won a prize.

    OMER's Award Recipients
  • Judy Roman, Traverse City, MI. Strategy Sphere, Div II. For offering transportation and fundraising help to an unknown team, enabling them to attend World Finals.
  • AC Pope HS, Marietta, GA. Strategy Sphere, Div III. This team showed exception-al talent by writing a flute composition based on a pen-tatonic scale with five move-ments to illustrate five dis-tinct settings.
  • John Glenn MS, La Quinta, CA. Balancing Act, Div II. This team had to recreate their props and backdrops because their materials were lost in shipping, only to have their problem solution ruled illegal. In the end, they accepted the ruling like true winners.
  • Carson, team member, Wisconsin Hills MS, Brookfield, WI. Featured Creature, Div II. Rarely seen on stage, Carson's contribution was evident throughout. He used different musical styles and themes that reflected the traits of each character.
