Odyssey of the Mind Creativity Festival -- wall-to-wall fun for all!
SU's Lied Recreation Center was a
mecca of wall-to-wall activity during
the three-day Creativity Festival at
World Finals. There was something for
everyone -- science, art, fun, fantasy,
culture, crafts, and, of course, pin-trading
and creative challenges.
|
Creative Competitions, Inc. (CCI)
had a “Time Tunnel” where visitors
could hear stories about the early years
of Odyssey of the Mind and view the
pins OMER has collected over the past
25 years or so. Outside the tunnel, CCI
provided glitter and glue and lessons on
how to personalize Odyssey of the Mind
tee shirts and other souvenirs.
|
NASA representatives were on-hand,
giving out posters, cd's, and other
information about Earth science. There
was even a 4-foot satellite imagery Earth
replica at their booth, and teams couldn’t
resist having their picture taken while
holding the world on their shoulders.
|
The primary purpose of the
Creativity Festival was for Odyssey of
the Mind associations to create booths
where, for a token, participants could
take part in a creative challenge or activity.
The booth that collected the most
tokens won a prize. Of the 13 association
booths, $1,000 went to the joint effort of
Missouri/Illinois for 1st place.
|
Other features included entertainers,
workshops, booths from ISU, and an
exhibit by Zome System, where kids
became mesmerized for hours while
building structures out of plastic rods
and balls.
