Temecula students score in contests A group of Temecula students has tasted success at regional and state competitions for the Odyssey of the Mind problem-solving contest. Students at Abby Reinke Elementary School in Temecula recently finished second at the regional contest and took fifth place at a state tournament. The team was the only Southern California school to rank in the top 5 for their problem, according to a news release from the team. Sixteen teams from across the state competed in the team's division and problem. One problem they had to solve involved a vehicle on a camping trip and environmental issues. The students had to solve it and develop a skit, complete with backdrops and costumes. Team members included: Myles Ferguson, fifth grade; Rosalie Ortega, third grade; Alex Vehlow, fifth grade; Mackenzie Vehlow, third grade; Ben Zimel, third grade; and Jacob Zimel, fifth grade. The coaches were Erin Vehlow and Linda Zimel. | More Articles | |
