Students fare well at state competition


Muskego -- Norway School District teams took home 13 trophies from the state Odyssey of the Mind competition in which students were judged on performances they originated and on how well they solved a problem given to them on the spot.

Not only that, two of the teams - from Bay Lane Middle School and Lakeview Elementary School - will go on to the Odyssey of the Mind world championship from May 26 to 29 at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.

The Bay Lane team not only won a first-place trophy but also an Odyssey of the Mind award for outstanding work in its presentation of aircraft that could perform a variety of flight patterns.

Winning second-place trophies were teams from Lake Denoon Middle School, three teams from Bay Lane Middle School, a team from Muskego High School and two from Lakeview Elementary, one of which is going to the world competition.

Taking home third-place trophies from the state competition were two teams from Lakevew, and teams from Bay Lane, and Tess Corners and Country Meadows elementary schools.

The competitions are split by age with divisions for kindergarten to second grade; third through fifth grade; sixth through eighth grade; and high school.
