First and second place teams from regionals participated in the state competition. Of the teams that went to state, Lowell Elementary Column Structure placed second. Winfield Intermediate School Nature Trail'R placed second. Winfield Middle School Food Court placed second, and Winfield Intermediate Discovered Treasures placed third.
First and second place teams were invited to the World Finals. Winfield had three teams that were given that invitation.
"Due to the financial strain that would be put on the community to send three teams to World Finals, the Winfield Intermediate and Lowell teams showed real sportsmanship by declining their invitations," said Rogene Frazee local OotM organizer.
"It was really hard for these two teams to decline, but they should be commended for their sacrifice, as both teams decided to put their efforts into helping the middle school team raise funds to ensure they go to World Finals."
