Conejo district in Odyssey program

The Conejo Valley Unified School District fielded 14 teams at the Odyssey of the Mind event which took place at the Marshall Fundamental Secondary School in Pasadena in February.

Banyan, Cypress and Sycamore Canyon elementary students were part of 11 primary and Division 1 teams. Of these Division 1 teams, three placed either first or second and are proceeding to the state tournament in March.

Sequoia Middle School sent three Division II teams, all of which placed first or second and will also advance to the state level.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problemsolving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state and world level.

The team, consisting of up to seven members, is responsible for every aspect of their presentation without the assistance of adults. Coaches provide support only.
