Eisenhower teams qualify for state tournament

By John Richmeier
Fort Leavenworth, Kan. -
Two teams from Eisenhower Elementary School are headed to a state Odyssey of the Mind competition.

The event will be held March 27 in Manhattan. The Fort Leavenworth teams earned the right to compete at the state level after capturing first-place trophies Feb. 27 at a regional tournament in Carbondale, the students said.

Teams participating in the state event will have the chance to advance to a world competition. Odyssey of the Mind is a "program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students," according to the organization's national Web site.

Each Eisenhower team put together a skit to solve a problem created for the Odyssey of the Mind contests. The skits were performed during the regional tournament.

"We came up with ideas and put them in a script," said Jacob Rob.
