Two local teams to compete in Odyssey of the Mind World Finals
Some local high school students are about to embark on a new kind of "Odyssey."
Two Odyssey of the Mind teams from Liberty High School will soon be competing against thousands of students from around the globe in the program's world finals.
The international education program promotes creative problem-solving opportunities for students of all ages.
The two teams showed off some of their latest creations at the school Tuesday, including a device that will have flying capabilities.
While the teams have won regional and state competitions in the past, this latest accomplishment has been a long time coming.
"Many of them have been together since they were in Kindergarten. So this is their final year and their first time ever going to world, which is great," said Mickey Vanderwerker, coach for Odyssey of the Mind.
The Odyssey of the Mind World Finals will be held at the University of Michigan at the end of May.
