A team of five students from El Dorado Middle School in Concord was among the top five finishers in the statewide "Odyssey of the Mind" competition March 27 in Brentwood.

Out of 19 teams, the students tied for fourth place with Redding School of the Arts in Redding. The El Dorado team members were Samantha Bergum, Kimberly Dell, Christina Stach, Jocelyn Walters and Curtis Stofer.

First place honors in the statewide competition went to Mountain View Middle School in Turlock, followed by Earhart Middle School of Riverside with second place and Magnolia School team of Grass Valley in third place.
