Five Odyssey of the Mind teams advance to world finals

Michigan Odyssey of the Mind teams descended on the fieldhouse of East Kentwood Saturday to compete in the regional competion. The top two finishing teams in each division earned the right to compete in the world finals.

Five teams from Rockford were able to score high enough in the creative competition to advance. Two of the teams claimed firsts and three earned second-place honors.

Crestwood Elementary placed first in the Lost Labor of Heracles Division I competition by scoring 333.26 points and Rockford High School's team placed first with 343.70 points in Superstion Division III.

Second place honors went to Valley View Team B in Lost Labor of Heracles Division I (322.74), Valley View Team A Superstition Division I (330.94), and North Rockford Middle School Superstition Division II (334.62).

Also placing in the regional competition were Roguewood Elementary finishing sixth in Lost Labor of Heracles Division I (302.27), Valley View Elementary Team B placing sixth in Superstition Division I (286.94), Cannonsburg Elementary finishing 11th in Superstition Division I (251.86).

The five teams will now compete in the prestigious world finals hosted by Iowa State University, in Ames, Iowa, May 27-30.
